From May to August, the town experiences consistent, powerful swells, providing the perfect conditions for experienced surfers. Powerful swells from the southwest and offshore winds combine to create the renowned long, right-hand breaks Jeffreys Bay is famous for. Even if you’re not an advanced surfer, the sight alone is spectacular and well-worth it.

Local Events and Whale Watching

If you keep your eyes on the horizon, you may spot a few visitors. From July to August, the Eastern Cape is teeming with marine life as Southern Right Back Whales and Humpback whales make their way along the coast. Watch them glide past the shore or flick their tails just past the breakers.
